Project Title: Importance of Energy Efficiency on Urban Environmental Protection

Short description of the project (Objectives/Activities/Expected outcomes):

Objectives:

• Promote the relation between the energy consumption and environmental protection in Prishtina.

• Inform (educate) the community about the ways of energy consumption reduction (saving)

• Inform the community municipality of Kastriot (where the Kosovo Energetic Corporation functions) that except financial benefits (less many to pay), by reducing the energy consumption they contribute to the sustainable development (sharing more energy for companies)

Activities:• Workshop: Topic of the workshop will be “The importance of energy efficiency for urban environment protection”. There will be discussions about the importance of energy consumption reduction, energy efficiency, identifying the ways for saving the energy in urban environments and stimulating the community for energy saving

• Awareness raising campaign: is about the importance of energy saving and urban environmental protection

- Leaflet – will contain information about the role of saving energy for the environment, the ways of energy saving and community benefits. The leaflet will be distributed through cash points of energy payments

- Poster, will contain information about the role of saving energy for the environment, the ways of energy saving and community benefits

• Radio advertisement will contain information about the role of saving energy for the environment , the ways of energy saving and community benefits and it will be transmitted in one local radio station in Pristine

Expected outcomes:

• The Environmental protection – promotion of less emission in the environment and sustainable use of natural recourses,

• Social matters improvements – decreasing the cost for spent energy

• Economical development – improving energy provision for production enterprises

• Community awareness raising – for environmental protection through energy consumption reduction

• Other indirect benefits for all communities despite their gender or ethnic identity.

About as

Eko Viciana was formed in 2007 by a group of enthusiastic young people with a clear vision for the sensitization of the public to protect nature and the environment as well as the participation of civil society in this matter.

We have a staff members as well as volunteers and collaborators who are willing to join us to work and lobby for environmental issues.

The members (15) are often assisted in their work by volunteers (more than 50).

The mission of E.A. “Eko Viciana” is nature and environment protection, recognition and solving various environmental problems and raising the welfare of society.

Goals
The organization was founded intentional for:

• Avocation on environment refinement,
• Large campaigns for Information, Education and Communication (IEC)
• Nature and Environment protection 
• Biodiversity protection,
• Promotion of the public rights according to the Aarhus Convention: access to information, participation in decision –making process and access to justice,
• Eco-tourism,
• Forest protection from non controlled logging and their re-cultivation.
• The waste management,
• Etc

To fulfill its goals, the organization will initiate, but not limited to, postscript activities:

• Campaigns for increasing ecological awareness,
